I am sure many of you are similar in the fact that podcasts are now apart of your everyday. Working alone from home can be a little isolating at times and to be honest they are a way for me to feel like I am in a conversation without taking attention away from work. So today I thought I should make a list of my favourites. 6 months ago I probably would have had a lot more crime related podcasts but to be honest I feel like the world is enough without adding on the extra thrill of a violent murderer on my Monday, you know?

After Work Drinks

One of my all time favourites that embarrassingly creates a feeling like you’re their third bestfriend that they’ve never met?! Smart, witty & important discussions with brilliant guests on their ‘After Work Drinks With..’ episodes. If you’re starting out, start with their episodes ‘Let’s Talk About Something Uncomfortable… Race’ & ‘A Grown Ups Guide to Heartbreak’

I - Weigh with Jameela Jamil

I found out about this podcast from hearing it referenced on AWD but it delivered the goods. This is an interview/in conversation with style podcast with some guests that give damn good insight. My favourite episodes so far were with Beanie Feldstein & Billy Porter.

Bobo & Flex

This is one of those podcasts that will get you really thinking about shit while also laughing out loud on public transport. A stand out favourite of mine was their episode ‘Is being pretty the ultimate privilege?’ dissecting the concept of pretty privilege.

How to Fail

To be honest I don’t always listen to every episode but I would 100% recommend listening to the episodes with Alain De Botton, the philosopher.

Where Should We Begin?

If you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall in a couples therapy session - this is a podcast for you. Super interesting and insightful listen. The documentary ‘Couple’s Therapy’ on SBS on Demand is also a similar format if you’re keen too.

How Long Gone

This is one that I have added recently after hearing my partner Michael listen. Unlike nearly all of the conversational podcasts I listen to, these are two guys. They sometimes have guests for conversations or sometimes it is just the two of them. To be honest I think what most drew me to this podcast is their fast wit, ‘banter’ & chemistry with each other. This isn’t the podcast for you if sarcasm isn’t your preferred sense of humour. One of their latest episodes with Chrissy Rutherford is where you should start.

Offline The Podcast

Most of Offline is conversations with women behinds brands & social media to discuss the meaning and pursuit of true self. Powerful listens that have proven to get me teary at the best of times. Ps. I also have an episode on there that we recorded live last year.

Download This Show

This is an ABC podcast for those who are interested in tech news. The host is the former ‘that movie guy’ from Triple J and he is joined by a few guests every week to chat all news related to tech eg. ‘Trump vs. K Pop’ or ‘Has COVID-19 killed the cinema?’

News Podcasts

If you’re looking for some podcasts to get your dose of journalistic news, my favourites are The Daily by the New York Times and Today In Focus from The Guardian.
